President - Jessica Sparano
Jessica is a senior International Studies major with a Middle East concentration and minors in Russian Studies and Holocaust and Genocide Studies. While she is interested in all elements of the region, she is particularly interested in human rights and natural resource wealth in the region. She just returned from a semester in St. Petersburg, Russia. Outside of EME, she is also the President of Amnesty International and a SAVE peer educator.
Vice President - Sarah Cassim
Salaam, adaab and hello! My name is Sarah and I am Vice President of EME. I love desserts (chocolate chip cookies, bakalava and ladoo to name a few; inclusivity is important!), have a fascination with skeletons, and know an embarrassing number of corny jokes. I love long walks, exploring everything (foods, places, ideas) and hate winters. My passion for the region is both personal (immigrant from South Asia) and academic. It's hard to miss me on campus since I don shalwaar kameez quiet frequently (as pictured) so come say hello. I promise I don't bite (unless you are a chocolate chip cookie!)
Secretary- Martín Crosby-arreaza
Hello my name is Martín! I am a sophomore International Studies Major with a concentration in diplomacy and Russian Studies Minor. I enjoy discussing politics, learning languages, and learning about the cultures of different regions but I am especially passionate about the Central Asian region. Last year I went to Russia over spring break and did a Maymester in Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
Web Master - Carla Cirelli
Hi I’m Carla! I’m a History major and planning on a self-designed Russian Studies major. I love learning about languages and cultures and I joined because I love Middle Eastern food, learning new things about the region, hearing from passionate people talk about the subject. Last year I went to Russia for spring break. I'm also in a bunch of random clubs such as Swing Dance, History Club, and more.
